outside listening: .triptych.

At the beginning of this year, my youngest sister Elyse choreographed a piece titled “Triptych” and invited me to provide the music for it. We decided on a mix of Bach suites for the prelude/first/second movements, and an etude from Friedrich Dotzauer for the third, as she wanted something that had the same driving rhythm from beginning to end. Eric Mazzie rounded out the trio with his beautiful balletic contributions; Loren Fletcher provided additional choreographic and staging help.

We debuted the work on March 26 in Albuquerque, New Mexico at Maple Street Dance Space. To add to the excitement, I was performing on my new cello for the first time, having picked it up only that morning!
